For the Signicat Express connection to work, you need some API credentials from Signicat (a client ID + client secret). For this connection, Signicat offers both a free 30-day trial supporting some social media login methods, and paid plans supporting Nordic national electronic ID methods such as BankID. Please follow the steps below to retrieve the client ID and client secret needed.
1. Fill out form
Fill out and submit this form (”Form for requesting Signicat API client”). In the form, you can select which type of plan you are interested in, and Signicat will reach out to you as soon as Signicat has processed your request. This is not a direct purchase form, so if you indicate interest in a paid plan in the form, Signicat will reach out to you with a quote and contract proposal before the plan is actually purchased.
2. Log into Signicat developer dashboard and find your API client
As soon as Signicat has processed your request, you will receive an invite to log into our developer dashboard. Follow the link that you receive in the e-mail to log in, and use SMS OTP as login method with the same mobile number you registered with in the form. Once logged into the developer dashboard (https://dashboard.signicat.io), click the tab called “API clients”. There should already be one prepopulated client in the list, with the flow type “Authorization code”. Click on the row with the client information to open the client details
3. Retrieve API client details
After clicking on the client, you will be taken to a detailed view where you can find the client ID. Copy and save the client ID from here (this is what you will insert in the Auth0 dashboard). In the submenu that opens in the detailed client view in the previous step, click the tab ”Secrets”, and then ”Add secret”. A popup appears, with predefined secret type ”shared secret” and a prepopulated client secret. Leave the secret type as is (”shared secret”), then please copy and store the secret value somewhere safe and lastly, click ”add” in the lower right corner of the popup window in order to persist the newly created client secret (otherwise the secret will not work).
4. Install client ID and client secret in Auth0 dashboard
Now we have what we need from the Signicat developer dashboard and can go back to the Auth0 dashboard to install the client ID + client secret retrieved from Signicat. Once in the Auth0 dashboard, go to “Authentication”, then “Social” and click on the “Signicat Express” connector from within the dashboard. Here you should enter the client ID and the client secret obtained in the previous steps, into the fields called “Client ID” and “Client secret”, respectively.
5. Test the connection
Once step 4 is completed, the Signicat Express plugin should be ready. If you want to test it directly from the Auth0 dashboard, you can click the “Try Connection” button in the top right corner of the dashboard page, and you should see the Signicat login screen appear if everything is set up correctly.
